Writing

On this page, you can look at many samples of my written work - it’s a mix of published freelance work, newspaper cuttings, and university coursework. I hope you enjoy what you read!

GamesRadar+:

Since August 2021, I’ve been writing a freelance guides writer over at GamesRadar+, working hard to bring out accurate and well-presented information on the latest game launches and updates for its audience. I’ve sorted preview coverage for titles such as Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, Dying Light 2, and Elden Ring. I’ve also kept a close eye on big service titles, including Fortnite, Warzone, Apex Legends, and Destiny 2, for any emerging trends or big updates that might prompt players to seek some online guidance. My GamesRadar+ author page can be reached here, but you can take a look at some articles by clicking on the images below.

Game Rant:

From February to July 2021, I worked as a freelance guides writer for Game Rant. In total, I wrote 131 guides and news stories with a focus on trending topics in live-service games, bringing in thousands of views in total. All my writing can be found here, but clicking on the images below will take you directly to some specific guides and news stories of mine.

startmenu:

I’ve written some freelance news, feature articles, and lists for a gaming news website run voluntarily by students and freelance writers called startmenu. You can see my author page here or you can click on any of the images below to go straight to the article.

The River and RiverOnline:

As part of my degree at Kingston University London, I acted as one of the news editors for The River and the River Online, the university’s biweekly newspaper, and its website.

I also wrote plenty of articles for the paper and website including some about the student union and student elections, one about a student who finished her PhD at 21-years-old, and some video games features for the entertainment section.

You can read all my RiverOnline articles here, or read a few examples of my work for The River and RiverOnline below:

Univeristy project - DISTINKT Magazine:

PAGE 10-11 COVER STORY HACK TO THE FUTURE.jpg

DISTINKT magazine was a part of a large magazine brand project which involved working with a team of three other friends to come up with an original magazine brand, and eventually delivering a bespoke print product. I was the editor for the team and together we came up with DISTINKT Magazine. It had the goal of offering our target audience of artistic young people, aged 18-26, high-quality features about tattoos and tattoo culture, and providing inspiration for those looking to get their first or next tattoo.

Creating this brand package involved leading a team and working together to write brand, editorial and social media strategies, create wireframes for a mobile app, as well as write original articles and lay out pages to bring the final print product together.

I was able to layout a lot of the pages of the magazine and created illustrations for my cover story (featured above) which required lots of research into body modifications, as well as interviewing Johnny Chiodini (Dicebreaker, formerly Eurogamer) about his deep knowledge on Cyberpunk, his experiences with getting tattoos, and the future of body modifications.

You can see the full cover story and the full magazine by using the buttons below.
